Aseem Zoabi - Dream Maker and Talent Discoverer
Aseem Zoabi, a distinguished graduate of Beit Zvi, is more than just the artistic director of Kan YaMa Kan - he embodies a complete vision of the world of theater and education. Throughout his creative career, he excelled as an actor, director, and writer on numerous prestigious stages, including Beit HaGefen Theater, and participated in award-winning international theatrical productions. His most significant contribution, however, is his three-year tenure as the manager of the children's theater department at the Union Theater. His dedication and impact on the rising generations are truly commendable.
In 2009, however, Aseem made a decision that changed the course of his professional life - he chose to leave behind the spotlight and privileges of stardom to dedicate his life to a nobler mission. "It wasn't difficult for me to give up my passion for acting," says Aseem, "because I see that I'm doing something more sublime - discovering talents and helping young people find themselves through theater.
Aseem's theater journey began when he decided one day to leave his stable job and travel to Tel Aviv to study theater. This adventurous spirit and belief in dreams is what he instills in his students today. "I wanted to reach a place where I could benefit my country and my people," says Aseem, and this is precisely what he does at Kan YaMa Kan.
What distinguishes Aseem is his unique relationship with his students - he rejects formalities and insists on being called by his first name only. He is more than just an artistic director to his students - he is a spiritual father, friend, brother, and psychological mentor. Aseem has achieved a rare balance between education and friendship, being the first supporter in moments of success and a true pillar in times of difficulty. His unwavering support is a source of reassurance and confidence for his students.
"I don't want history to pass me by unnoticed," says Aseem, "I want history to pause and say that this person changed and benefited his society." Aseem's work at Kan YaMa Kan has left an indelible mark on local theater, inspiring recognition of his contributions and the profound impact he has made on the community.
"It's a challenging profession that I've grown to love deeply and will stay in for life," Aseem describes his journey with teaching and theater. As he continues to discover and refine new talents, he proves daily that dedicating his life to education and educating generations was one of the noblest decisions an artist could make.
